The Magic of the Tarot

The Magic of the Tarot

Tarot cards can be viewed as art, meditation symbols, or tools of divination.  The truth is tarot cards are all of the above, and much more.  They represent the spiritual lessons and Universal forces that we encounter in our journey through life.  The tarot uses pictures, colors and ancient symbols to communicate with our subconscious mind.  Even someone who has no prior knowledge of the tarot can often look at a card and be hit with the meaning.  The cards are both visual and visceral – we see what’s happening on the card, and receive the message on a gut level.

The tarot works by the principle of Synchronicity, a term coined by psychoanalyst Carl Jung.  Simply put, it means that the Universe is full of meaningful coincidence and that  there is a Divine Order orchestrating seemingly random events.  When someone shuffles the cards while making a sincere request for guidance, their energy draws those particular cards to them that tell a story about their life.

Much of what the tarot reveals concerns a person’s outlook, his or her unique challenges & gifts, relationship dynamics and windows of opportunity.  A gifted tarot reader will be able to tap into the bigger cosmic picture. She can often see into the karmic patterns from a past life, and give you guidance on ways to heal them.  She may also channel personal messages from your angels and guides on specific matters, such as career, finances or love.

When receiving a reading it’s important to remember that much of the future is not set in stone. It is fluid, and can be influenced by your free will, choices and intentions.  The future is like a railroad track, with alternate tracks veering off in different directions.  A good reading can tell you what track you’re on, and where it may lead.  If you don’t like where you’re headed, there are many ways to “jump tracks” through changing your mindset and actions, and with divine help.

Many people come to a reader when they are at a crossroads and don’t know what path to take.  A reader can do a spread on the various choices, and describe what the energy looks like spiraling out from those choices. Ultimately, it is always up to the client to make their own decisions, but it can be really helpful to have a compassionate and confidential ear during the process.  A reading often confirms what your own intuition has been telling you all along.  The simple act of hearing it from a stranger who knows nothing about you beforehand however, can make you finally sit up and take notice!
